I found this book both dull and exciting in parts. Istrae fell in the ocean as her fiancé let her go as he was angry with her because she did not want to marry him and she wanted to get off of the island she had called home and to be free. I was glad that Rime had rescued her, took her home where he and his mother cared for her. Rime had not known his father, he was frowned upon, and overlooked for promotions.
