WHAT GENRES DO YOU WRITE UNDER?:

I write contemporary romance, historical romance and (coming soon) paranormal romance.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?:

My latest release is coming out February 2, and in an ancient historical novella set in the Roman Empire. Here's the blurb: They serve two different masters in two different worlds. The day Sariah transitions into a life of temple service, she becomes part of a treacherous scheme to overthrow the provincial Roman government. When Titus takes her as a concubine, she leverages her knowledge for her freedom. She sees a way out of slavery. He sees a way to redeem his family and career. As the city burns in rebellion, will their tenuous bond of trust be enough to keep them together forever?

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?:

I'm a big fan of Ann Rice. Her ability to both creep me out an elevate my thinking is amazing. It's never the same read twice. I also enjoy Jeff Shaara's historical fiction. His ability to get into the POV of the names you know and those you don't is above par.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?:

I'm miserable if I don't write. I know if I never published and/or sold anything, I'd still write. It's a pressure valve for me, a stress reliever and a way to escape. If it entertains others, it's a win/win.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?:

I love sports, college football and basketball specifically. Cheering for my teams and players I find exciting to watch is fun. I'm also an action movie buff, so if it blows up or is involved in a chase, I'm there for it!

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?:

About 20 years ago, I wrote a paranormal trilogy. This year, I'm going to revisit and rewrite those stories in as BIG a way possible. I want to take all the controls off and go for broke with these great characters. I hope my contemporary and historical readers will follow me on this journey.

So hard to answer: I have read extensively since I was six. Almost everything I could get my hands on... Rosemary Sutcliff, for style and wringing emotion out of a few words. Lindsay Buroker, for her snark and fast releases. Rita Mae Brown, for inviting authors to write the story they want to read...

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?:

I love story-telling. For me, it's the discovery of Writing into the Dark, because I really only know how a story will turn out by writing it. Yes, I do have landmarks, but all the good stuff, the character development and the actual adventures only unfold as I write. It's awesome

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?:

Until last year, I ran my own therapy practice. I've always been fascinated by human behavior, and I do incorporate that in my books. And of course, horses... I love horses and you'll see that in my tales, too.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?:

Right now, I'm working on a 9-book series, back to fantasy. I'm working to set structures in place that allow my to release books much more rapidly (I'm hoping for about 10 this year), and to build some marketing clout. I dream of giving up the day job... (who doesn't?)

WHAT GENRES DO YOU WRITE UNDER?:

I primarily write children books, middle grade, and young adult books and enjoy working with children. I do have pseudonyms under which I write, as well.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?:

My latest book is The Book of Moncoto. It is a middle grade fantasy inspired by The Twelve Labors of Hercules as well as a travel through the Zodiac signs.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?:

I think that everything inspires me. The sunrise or a shadow on the wall gives rise to a new image and then to a story. My dogs and my cat do something and I think of things I want to write. I write because it is the same as breathing for me. It makes me happy. I guess I never grew up in some ways. When I was a child I wanted to be "Peter Pan." I have always felt a connection to children and to animals. When I look at a little child or at an animal, I truly believe that I know what s/he is thinking. Of course, with my background in psychotherapy, I am a keen observer and a student of behavior. I write because I love children, and because I am a teacher. The foundation of this writer's philosophy is predicated on one simple belief, which is that all children can learn. I believe in inspired teaching. I believe in helping children to love to learn, just for the sake of learning.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?:

I am motivated to write by the books that I read. My journey into literature was eclectic. So, of course I was influenced by Shakespeare and Voltaire (François-Marie Arouet.) My great aunt left the United States to study fashion in Paris during the 1920's and she brought back copies of Candide and La Princesse de Babylone with her. Beside my writing I am passionate about my faith, my absolute belief in God and his son, Jesus Christ. I am passionate about animals and children. And, I am passionate about learning. I love Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, and Rod Serling. I loved to read anything...from the breakfast cereal boxes to the New York Times. I think that the first grown-up, mainstream, book that I ever read was Sinuhe the Egyptian by Mika Waltari, (the English translation by Naomi Walford) and then, Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk. I most definitely read the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Ralph Ellison, Lorraine Hansberry, Dorothy West, Langston Hughes, Alexander Dumas, Henry James, L. Frank Baum, Edgar Rice Burroughs, William Makepeace Thackeray, and the Grimm fairy tales. I could go on and on with such writers as Edward Gorey, F.Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Dr Seuss, Margaret Mitchell, Pearl Buck, Aldous Huxley, Virginia Woolf, George Orwell, and John Dos Passos. Somewhere in my youth I read T.S. Eliot, C. S. Lewis, Jules Vern, and H.G. Wells. I think Vern and Wells helped me develop a love for science fiction.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?:

Other than my Family (my brother, children, grandchildren, and great-grands), my dog and my cat, and my religion, I have no other interest but writing. I do edit others work from time to time and participate in writer's workshops, but my life is about writing.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?:

I am working on two separate anthology, one for adults and one for children. And, In addition, I have agreed to collaborate with another author on a Sci-Fi Novel. Actually we are getting close to completion. I have another novel in the works under my pseudonym.

WHAT GENRES DO YOU WRITE UNDER?: Mostly Fantasy, Paranormal, and Sci-Fi but I've written romance as well.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?:

My latest book is called Under Her Spell Prequel to Chroma Chronicles #1 I was inspired one day to write this book after I dropped my sons off at school and looked up in the clouds. I wondered if there was a world up there, and what if the world down below was different. And it just took off from there. I'm an African American woman and thought about what if the society in my created world was based on color psychology. This idea fascinates me because we all have a favorite color. In my made-up world of Chroma, my personality color is Blue, and so I would live in Blue Ward. I can't wait to hear all of the readers' feedback on what Ward they would live in.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?:

Maya Angelou and what she accomplished as a writer/ woman author/ speak, activist, I can go on and on. But her transformation and words forever inspire me. When things get the toughest for me as a writer, I think about Maya's words of inspiration, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” I hope in some way my writing will make readers feel or see something different they hadn't thought of before.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?:

My husband and my four sons. Also, the readers, when I get a review it's so appreciated. I love to see how the story came across for them. I can't see myself doing anything else honestly. I realized that any chance I get I write and I hope to make this my full-time. I love spending time creating new worlds and emptying my imagination into new books.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?:

I love dancing. It was one of the first things my mama said about me she noticed when I was a baby, that any sound of music made me bouncy! I started dabbling with painting with watercolors. I love it and it's so relaxing to express my creative side in a different way.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?:

I want to finish up several series that I started! So, I would like to say to readers keep an eye out. I plan to have plenty of surprises along the way and plenty to read. I hope to become your new favorite author. Some of the series I have going are Gema Fox Cozy Mystery, Bio-Snatched Unleashed, Dragonfly Kingdom Novellas, Everlace Invoke, and Chroma Chronicles. I love to mix things up so there will be several surprises this year. For instance, like a new book, I will introduce it in February with some fun characters. :)

My book is called The Razvak Hunter, first of the Razvak Series. It's a classic Sword and Sorcery fantasy, inspired by a mixture of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and the Eragon books.

I am a big Potterhead and a massive Tolkien fan. I also love the works of Anne McCaffrey, Emilio Salgari, Alexandre Dumas, J. R. Ward, Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Lisa Kleypas.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

I want to be able to create books that provide readers with not only an escape from reality, but a possibility to learn and expand their horizons beyond their everyday lives. As a child, books were a big catalyst for me. They helped me dream beyond my circumstances and visualize myself having a life that at the time seemed imposible. I want my books to help other people see themselves the way they can be, not the way they are, and understand that your circumstances at birth do not define your destiny, as long as you are able to dream big.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

I am an avid Anime and Manga consumer and my works are heavily influenced by the trends of these kind of storytelling. Art is another of my greatest passions and someday, I hope to be able to combine it with my writing in order to enrich my books and the experience of the people reading them.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

At this point my focus is to finish my Razvak series (hopefully over the next 2 years!) and expand its universe and characters into a more complex, inter-laced multiverse. It promises to be a herculean task, but I'm looking forward to it!

WHAT GENRES DO YOU WRITE UNDER?: 

Everything published is Fantasy, but I have unfinished manuscripts that are in the sci-fi genre and some unpublished short stories that would fall under sci-fi, mystery, and horror.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?: 

Inna. My idea actually came from my first book. Back when I was revising Maygest's Tale, I came across the section where Maygest is describing his mother's life, and I realized that that would make an excellent short story. So I went out to basically fill in all the gaps as a short story for my fans, but as I kept writing, the book kept getting bigger and bigger until it was the size of a full-length novel. Thus so, I decided to just publish it.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

I think early on it must have been R. A. Salvatore, Paolini, LeGuin, and Tokien, which started my initial love of story telling before I started in on darker stuffs like Catch 22, Dickens, and Crime and Punishment that, I think, solidified the general tone that a lot of my stuff has. And I'd be leaving out a big influence if I didn't mention The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. I loved that kind of absurd humor, and I try incorporate humor into my novels as much as is appropriate (due to the darker tone).

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

At first, I started writing just because I was afraid to die. Honest. I got run over in my first week of college, and I became scared of everything. I had felt at the time that I needed to have something written down, some proof of my existence, but I don't think this anymore. I actually found, in my hours and hours of madly typing, that I just genuinely enjoy making worlds, and I started to think back to when I was a kid, reading all of those wonderful stories, and I suppose I just wanted to recreate some of that wonder for others as well. (Well, I suppose wonder might not be the right word regarding my books, but at least some entertainment!)

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

Walking. Walking in various pretty locations. Eating. Eating in various locations. No, but seriously, I'm pretty boring outside of any random endeavors that I attempt to pursue.

Nothing as of yet. I suppose I'll try to sell my books as best as I can, but it's a bit of a long shot.

WHAT GENRES DO YOU WRITE UNDER?: 

I started out writing under my real name - Alice McVeigh - in contemporary fiction (twice published by Orion). However, later this month will be published by UK's Unbound in science fiction/dystopian.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?: 

Last Star Standing by my pen name, Spaulding Taylor, was inspired by a crazy vision I had while meditating. A character and a setting both: a soldier, sometime in the future, tied to a chair about 100 metres underground. And the character - Aiden - wouldn't leave me alone. So, despite great misgivings, I wrote the book. The worry I had was that I knew very well that many agents won't even LOOK at science fiction and, after years out of the writing "game" (working as a ghost writer) I doubted anything would come of it...

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

I think Catcher in the Rye was an influence, oddly enough. The quest side of Lord of the Rings (not the elvish bits). Otherwise, I'm not sure.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

I come from a family of writers and editors - and I grew up in southeast Asia in the sixties/seventies, when TV was mostly in Burmese or Chinese. Basically, my sister and I started got hooked on reading and writing and never stopped!! - I finished my first - terrible, awful - novel when I was just fourteen. (I've kept it, to remind me of how far I've come, lol!)

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

I am addicted to tennis and being locked-down here in London is hugely hard, for that reason... My other great sorrow is missing playing in orchestras. I worked for years in London orchestras - I came to London to study cello with the famous British cellist, du Pre - but all my orchestra work came to a halt last March. So: no tennis and no orchestras... well, hey, I'm getting a lot of writing done, at least!!!

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

I have another novel coming out, later this year. Historical fiction this time, inspired by Jane Austen. Thanks for hosting!!!

WHAT GENRES DO YOU WRITE UNDER?: 

I write YA Fantasy. I've dabbled in contemporary fiction, but YA Fantasy is my true love.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?: 

I'm currently working on my first series, The Isla Emerged Trilogy. The most recent release is Secrets Submerged. It's the second book in a trilogy. The third in the series is Currents Converged. It's is releasing this summer and is now available for pre-order. The series was inspired by my changing views on The Little Mermaid. The older I got, the less I sympathized with Ariel and the more I noticed her flaws. I wanted to explore those flaws. Thus, Isla was born. (: She starts out like a normal seventeen year old—overly confident in herself, a little naïve, and very shortsighted. Those traits don't serve her well, but her story shows her growth and highlights the importance of self, familial, and platonic love in our lives.

Rick Riordan, Kate DiCamillo, Holly Black, Lany Sky and DK Combs. The latter two are fellow self published authors. These authors have each sparked something within me that pushed me to keep writing, to keep going, even when I doubted myself. I owe them so much in the way of gratitude. DK and Lana knows, hopefully, how much I appreciate them. I've known and admired them since I was fourteen and fangirling over their early writings on Wattpad. Every success they have inspires me. Riordan and DiCamillo were authors whose work I read in middle school, and I have never gotten over it. Riordan has such a marvelous talent; the way he creates a world you can immerse yourself in and teaches his readers about various cultural mythologies is amazing. He will always be my favorite author. DiCamillo writes so beautifully. "The Tale of Despereaux" and "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" are still such striking reads to me, even after over a decade after first reading them. I've read "Despereaux" with my students and "Edward Tulane" with my baby brother. Both books are perfect examples of how powerful our words can be and how an author can evoke emotions in their readers.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

My baby brother and my students motivate me every day. My brother is ten now, and smart as a whip. I teach fifth grade, who are every bit as creative and witty as kids can be, but many struggle with writing in general and/or getting their great ideas from their head and onto the page. I want them to see that writing can be a great form of expression and, ultimately, that it can be a truly fun and rewarding experience if they keep at it!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

Reading (I know, shocker) and music. Reading the many subgenres of Fantasy and Contemporary fiction keeps me occupied when I'm not writing or teaching. It's my favorite past time. I also have really eclectic tastes thanks to my parents, who can both sing and play instruments and who introduced my brothers and I to many different artists and genres. Music was a huge part of my life growing up because of my entire family, and that love of it has stuck with me. Personally, I can play only a little bit of the piano, guitar, and drums—not enough of any one of them to truly call myself a "pianist," a "guitarist," or a"drummer"— but I do love to sing.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

I'm current finishing up my first series (The Isla Emerged Trilogy), and I'm outlining my next one. It's a duology that is YA Fantasy, as well, but it's a far jump away from mermaids and mythical creatures. I can't wait to officially start writing it and to get it out into the world.

Twisted Fates Book 3: The Final Twist - still in works at this time TBR 08/2021 This is the final installment of my Twisted Fates Series. I was inspired by the books that I read in this genre and wanted to create something that broke some of the stereotypes as well as how my first two seemed to evolve a lot more than I had originally intended.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

So many lol. My main inspirations would probably be Stephen King, Anne Rice, VC Andrews, Charlaine Harris and Christopher PIke.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

I get my motivation from a bunch of different things. The people around me, the books I read, the music that I listen to while writing but mostly my readers and supporters. Being able to take my readers on a little journey into the world of my characters is an amazing feeling.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

I love to bake, especially cupcakes. I am an avid reader. I went to art school so I enjoy drawing and my little pup, Mitzy who always keeps me on my toes.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

I have really grown a passion for writing now so after I complete my Twisted Fates Series, I plan on writing a Horror Anthology that I have already written the draft for the first half, another horror story that I started a while back and then tossing my hat in the ring for another paranormal romance. After that, we'll see where the inspiration takes me.

My book is titled Aerodynamic Drag It features a collection of poetry and short fiction mostly previously published in literary magazines over the years. It's split into four sections: thrust, friction, drag, and lift. It pays homage to the concept of flight and the experience of growth.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

I'm a huge fan of anything by Toni Morrison and Lorrie Moore. I also really love the brevity and vivid imagery of John Dos Passos and Tim O'Brien.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

I'm sure like many authors and poets, I write about my own experiences in life and trying to understand them. My day job is a therapist and I thinking of writing like a therapy session: a space to process and breathe.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

I'm a huge nerd and love video games. I love 90s anime and really bad movies. I like yoga, running, and gardening. I love going out in nature with my daughters and watching them learn and play.

I'm currently working on a black out poetry collection using 20th century politicized poetry. I've also been working more on short fiction as well.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

I have loved Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice since I was a teen! These days I read a lot of Richelle Mead, Sarah J Maas and Cassandra Clare.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

The voices compel me, as odd as that sounds. I am merely the pen, the characters and their stories live inside of me. The breathe and talk and compel me to write their stories.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

Like most authors I'm an avid reader, among other things. My grandmother taught me how to cross stitch as a young girl and to this day I find it very calming.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

The first novel in a four book series, The Demon, the Witch and the Priest is to debut March 20th. The others shall release shortly after. There are a few novel ideas I have jotted down but between the release dates of my first YA series I shall finish another I have made great progress on called Demigod Released. The title is a work in progress.

My three books are all very different. The first was literary fiction, the second a satirical postmodern murder mystery, and my latest, Troublemakers, is a fun middle grade book.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?:

Troublemakers was inspired both by my own experiences in middle school and by my time working as a tutor at a school in LA. I'd been watching a lot of kids' TV shows, and wanted to create something that reflected my favorite part of that age, which is that the kids are convinced they're 100 times smarter than you.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?:

When I think back to when I was 10 or so, the books I remember most are The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Calvin & Hobbes, Garfield, Matt Christopher, and the Great Illustrated Classics series.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?:

I try not to think about why I write - it's just one more item on my to-do list that I have to get done every day, like working out or brushing my teeth. Once I've done it, I cross it off the list and avoid thinking about it until tomorrow.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?:

I'm a gigantic sports fan, and my wife and I love movies and video games. It's hard to have interests during the pandemic that aren't related to sitting on the couch, but when it's over, we'll be ready to travel again, which is our favorite thing to do.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?:

I'm working on another novel, the longest and most serious project I've ever embarked on, which means it's gonna be a while before it's finished. In the meantime, my wife and I have started a blog called As Seen In Japan where we share photos and stories from our life in Japan. Please check it out!

I like to write in the horror and fantasy genres.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?: 

My latest book is called, "The Scavenger". It's a novella about three teens who found a wishing well and they each make a wish. Their wishes are granted but not in the way they hoped, unleashing a whole new nightmare on them. I often wondered what would happen if we made a wish but something evil granted it. This came across my mind one day and I decided to write a story based on that premise.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

Stephen King's book, "It" was an inspiration for me.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

To write stories that take people away from their troubles for a little while and will entertain them. It has been said by readers of my books that they're like little movies playing inside the reader's mind while reading them. So when I hear that, it lets me know that I'm doing something right.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

I love going to the movies, watching religious movies especially like, "The Greatest Story Ever Told", "Risen", "The Passion of Christ". Reading is another hobby of mine and in the last few months, I've been dabbling in digital art.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

Right now, I'm working on the sequel to, "The Scavenger" but also in the planning/plotting stage for a new YA fantasy series, as well as continuing with my Zargothian Saga fantasy trilogy too.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?: 

Just One Mo is my latest effort. I was inspired by a number of things, but the easiest answer is a conversation with a bird watcher about a bird that was not supposed to be on the West Coast and how to get it back to the right coast inspired this writing.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

I love Ralph Ellison. The Invisible Man is my personal favorite. I have always found an affinity with Shakespeare. I love the tragedies. I grew up reading Iceberg Slim, Chester Himes and a bunch of comics. I also like Zane Grey. I'm all over really, in terms of reading and influences.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

As a black man I find that the world I live in being written about by people that do not look like me or consider me or the people I know exist. The world is not this white fantasy. It is not this urban sprawl of thugs and drug dealers either. I hate that polarity or desire to paint things that way. I write to shine a spotlight on the world I grew up in and aspire to at times.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

I have been an athlete most of my life. I have played football, rugby and now I have gravitated to riding and racing bicycles. Most days I ride my bike, return some phone calls and write. Pretty simple life.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?:

 I continue to write. I have all these stories inside of me and I want to get them out. As I get better at this I think I will produce more.

I began my writing journey with lyric and song writing which evolved into poetry. Once I knew that writing was something that I enjoyed, I turned to my first love, science fiction, more specifically, short stories.

My latest book is a science fiction and post-apocalyptic short story collection called The Knot at the End of the Rope and Other Short Stories.

I grew up reading science fiction from the early writers, Wells, Verne, Asimov, Bradbury, and Niven, but I think that Vonnegut would be my favorite.

With poetry, often it is a hardship, struggle, or some emotional event that inspires a poem. My science fiction writing comes from a desire to share the visions that I have in my imagination.

I play and write for guitar, mostly classical guitar. Running and cycling is always on the docket, and it's often then when I come up with some of my ideas.

I'm actually continuing one of my short stories. I started during NaNoWrMo, and I'm still at it. Hoping that it will be a full length novel.

Gamble: Two Lives Away is book 4 in the Hide & Seek Chronicles. this story was inspired by the real-life technological innovations from DARPA, the R & D department of the US military. My interest in developing tech combined with my childhood boredom mowing lawns led me to create this science fiction adventure in my mind.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

I love so many. My favorites are Vonnegut, Jemisin, and Anders, but there are so many more...

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

Reaching readers is such a rush. Getting feedback, whether it's a tweet mentioning me, or a direct email, really drives me to keep writing. If my books can provide a little escape from the heaviness of life, then I'll be happy to keep writing them.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

So many! I enjoy watching college football (Go Gators!), cooking, time with my dog (I consider myself an amateur trainer), and cheese. for real, I know so much about cheese, from making it, cooking with it, or pairing it for some fancy meals.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

I'm very happy to be finishing up the Hide & Seek Chronicles, with the final book most likely debuting by the end of 2021. Outside of that, I have so many projects in progress! I'd love to create a board game based on the Hide & seek Chronicles, am currently outlining some high fantasy I'm calling Orcs vs. Giants, A contemporary fantasy murder mystery series, and a retelling of Little Mermaid...with vampires...on the moon.

 Jordan speaking here! Hero and I are co-writers cooking up a feast of different genres for every palate: right now, we’ve got urban fantasy, comedy, and romance novels for readers to sample.

WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR LATEST BOOK AND WHAT INSPIRED IT?: 

WISH HUNTER actually has a double meaning. In the story, “wish hunters” are people who steal wishes from other people to sell them. But the title is also a tongue-in-cheek reference to the rock star trying to take back his stolen wish—good ol’ Miles Hunter.

WHAT AUTHORS OR BOOKS INSPIRED YOU?: 

Laini Taylor’s DAUGHTER OF SMOKE & BONE series as well as V.E. Schwab’s urban fantasy books like VICIOUS and VENGEFUL were big influences on this story.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AS AN AUTHOR?: 

The desire to tell the best possible story. We want to whisk readers away to a different world and give them a memorable experience.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF WRITING?: 

For me, I love to run a good game of D&D for friends and go to auctions (I owned an antiques business before taking up writing full-time). Hero is an actress by trade and geeks out over all the same shows I do, like Firefly and WandaVision.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU AS A WRITER?: 

WISH HUNTER is a trilogy, so we have two sequels in the works as well as a short prequel story. Hero and I are also writing a bunch of standalone romcom novels, and I’m working on a fairy-tale retelling project and a high-fantasy series about DRAGONS. So, we always have something tasty on the stove!
